Welcome to the Masters
The place
The ultimate Golfers Paradise
The Augusta Masters is THE EVENT that every golfer dreams being part of. You will not want to miss the glamorous atmosphere, the perfection of the course and its pristine presentation, the seamless organisation coping with 40.000 daily spectators and fans, and the unforgettable moments that the Golf pros delight us with.
Imagine entering the Augusta National Golf Club, walking its slopes, enjoying the flowers, visiting the par 3 course, choosing souvenirs for your special ones in one of the many pro-shops, tasting its emblematic sandwiches, following the players (the best of the world mixed with old glories and former winners), resting on the rostrum behind the tee of the 12th hole, contemplating the symphony of lawn mowers at sunset, or passing by Nicklaus or a Green Jacket Player. This is what Augusta is all about and makes the trip worthwhile. For many, this is the most important week of the year, and the small town of the state of Georgia gets to be the epicenter of golf worldwide.
Royal Golf Travel has been taking golfers to the Masters since 2009. Hundreds of Golfers have made their Augusta dream come true by travelling with us. Golf
There are only a few private and public courses that accept non-members near Augusta National GC. The cost of the green fee during the Masters week starts at USD 500.
Sage Valley
- A Tom Fazio design, the course has a similar style and presentation to ANGC (caddies wear white jumpers and members green jackets). It has a very competitive layout and an impressive maintenance level.
- It is a private club with limited access considered as the best golf course in the area after Augusta. They organize the Junior Invitational, maybe the best under 18 years old golf tournament in the world.
Augusta Country Club
- This great Donald Ross design is famous for being neighbour of the ANGC (the field boundaries with the 12th green and 13th tee). Such strategic location, has tempered ANGC to pose an interest in buying some of these lands so that the iconic par 5 of the 13th with the “Azaleas” could be extended.
- The courses main highlight is its masterful and challenging green designs.
- Wegolf has access to this private club.
Palmetto Golf Club
- Founded in 1892, it is the oldest golf course in the US that still retains its original location and design.
- Its greens were designed by Dr. Mackenzie during his days at ANGC, this course embodies the belief that what makes a golf course challenging is not subject to how modern/new its design is.
Other recommended golf courses
Rivers Club, Mt Vintage y the Reserve.
Other things to do
Even for non-golfers the Masters is a great event to be part of. Wegolf suggests combining the Augusta experience with any of the excellent destinations located less than 400km away, such as Myrtle Beach, Pinehurst Resort, TPC Sawgrass, Kiawah Island or Hilton Head. Also, consider visiting Atlanta, it is fascinating city.
Planning
Where to stay
While it is a short 3 to 4 night stay, booking a house in the Augusta surroundings is the best option. Book a house with up to 3 to 6 rooms, with pool and barbecue so you combine the Masters with a comfortable and relaxing after golf experience.
Since there are no traditional large hotel chains in Augusta (just motels), small groups or individual travellers would benefit from booking houses and at the same time optimising their budget.
Wegolf also offers golf resorts lodging options; they are located 1:30 hours away and require driving to and from AGNC daily.
Time to book
As soon as possible! The Masters takes place the 2nd week of April. You can start planning as early as May of the previous year. Anticipation is key to getting better rates, lodging availability and booking golf outings.
How to get there
Atlanta’s International Airport is the nearest commercial airport; it receives direct flights from cities around the world and is highly connected to domestic destinations in the USA. Augusta is located 2 hours East of Atlanta’s airport. Augusta also has a small local airfield that mostly serves private planes (especially the Masters week).
