Golf Resort
This luxurious and recently renovated Resort & Spa is located in Palm Beach Gardens -70 minutes North of Miami. Offering accommodations for lovers of luxury and relaxation. The resort is very popular since it is one of the five first-class courses designed by prestigious architects in Florida. The most famous is the Champion Course home to the Honda Classic each spring on the PGA Tour.
Among its outstanding amenities, the Spa at PGA is a full-service European influenced destination spa, a golf academy and 19 tennis courts. A hallmark of the resort are the Waters of the World mineral pools with salts imported from the French Pyrenees. To end the day, nothing better than relaxing with a yoga class or a gourmet dinner in one of the hotel's 7 restaurants.
Golf
The Estates
Designed by Karl Litten, the course is ideal for any level of player. It is one of the shorter courses at PGA National; featuring generous fairways that make manageable tee shots, large greens that keep the course fun for the high handicap players and strategically placed hazards and bunkers.
The Fazio
The Fazio is currently under renovations led by third-generation designer Tom Fazio II, who is focused on the course layout. Fazio himself explains: “that ideal balance where single-digit golfers will be fully challenged while higher handicaps will have a layout ideal for a day of enjoyable resort golf.”
The Squire
This course is known as "the thinking man's course” as it is the ultimate test of accuracy and precision. Designed by Tom and George Fazio, The Squire is the shortest of the courses at PGA National Resort surrender by wilderness and vegetation from the National Preserve. It was last renovated in 2012, bringing new turf, rebuilt bunkers, expanded tee and greens.
The Palmer
Designer, Arnold Palmer, this course is perhaps one of the more forgiving at PGA National Resort from tee to fairway. Featuring spacious fairways and large bermuda greens open to good birdie opportunities. It has a spectacular and challenging ending, the 18th hole is one of the most scenic par 5s on the property.
The Champion
This famous and emblematic course has wide fairways and tifeagle greens that attracts thousands of players each year. Its demanding layout permanently demands concentration and challenging shots, even for the best PGA Tour Pros during the Honda Classic. Do not miss the "Bear Trap” which spans three demanding holes designed by Jack Nicklaus considered “one of the toughest stretches in golf.”
Accommodation
Every accommodation has new with bedding, furnishings, wall and floor coverings – even the common areas have been renovated. Technologically speaking the rooms are equipped with 55-inch flat-screen and iPod docking stations. Enjoy a private balcony or terrace and options for beautiful views of the gardens and grounds of the resort.
Other things to do
If you are scheduled to play during the morning, do not miss the beaches at West Palm Beach and Juno just a short drive away. Take a relaxing stroll and sink your toes into the sand. While in West Palm Beach visit Cityplace an open-air collection of shops and restaurants with a nod to the upscale.
Thinking about more golf: consider playing at the PGA Golf Club, the "PGA of America" club in PGA Village (Port St Lucie) just 45 minutes away, which offers 3 excellent courses and a variety of accommodations options.
Planning
When to travel
Travel between the months of November and May and enjoy milder temperatures. Also consider that Florida is yearly prone to hurricanes from June through October, with an epicenter in September. We recommend booking 90 days in advance.
How to get there
PGA National is located 70 minutes north of Miami International Airport and 2 hours south of Orlando International Airport, so you may consider flying into any of these international airports.
